vrmat exporter can be used to export materials in 3ds Max to. Thus instead of just being in a positive or negative direction, displacement can occur in many combined directions. Vector displacement, unlike standard displacement which displaces only in a positive or negative direction from the surface of the low poly base, allows displacement to occur in all 3 axes. You can then generate a map that when used with vector displacement turns the base geometry into the target geometry. It requires that you have a low poly base geometry and a high poly target geometry. Bake Vector Displacement – A utility material that allows you to generate displacement maps for Vector displacement when used along with texture baking. That works, but would be a lot, simpler if somehow you could load material directly from asset browser to material editor. Now The material from the asset browser is in he material editor and I can examine it and adjust etc as needed. So, IOW it seems when getting the asset browser material into the material editor, the path to the map(s) location is not available, which means when you click on view map.nothing appears.ĭimiMala, I am essentially doing what you describe only first Imassign the material to as elected object via the asset browser, then I “get material” by using the eye dropper from within the material editor to get the material from the object I assigned the material to. I’m not at my workstation right now so the actual term may be different but it opens a file directory window and is supposed,to show where the map is located.,That does not work either. One is “get map location” or something like that. Also there is the functionality whereby when your right click on the view image button a pop up menu of several choices appears. Like there is no path for the view image button to find he map so a window with the map in it does not open. I mean, when I click the view image button nothing appears. You mean the "view image" button doesn't show anything?
